MAR AC-77

MAR AC-77 Accelerator is a non-fluoride product. It enhances catalyst activity on glass and dielectric materials. It provides a void free and reliable electroless copper deposit.

Advantages of the MAR AC-77 process include:
  • Optimal catalytic activity
  • No palladium dissolution
  • Sulfate based solution
  • Excellent glass coverage
SOLUTION MAKE-UP
DI Water 90%
MAR AC-77 10%
SOLUTION MAINTENANCE

The AC-77 Accelerator processes approximately 500 surface square feet per USG. Solution should be discarded when either throughput reaches 500 ssf/USG or when the copper metal reaches 2,000 ppm (2g/l).

Palladium 10 ml/litre of ENAU PDS will increase Pd content by 10 mg/l
Normality 10 ml/litre of Sulphuric acid s.g. 1.84 will increase the Normality content by 0.36 N
OPERATING PARAMETERS
Range Optimum
MAR AC-77 8 - 12% 10%
Temperature 20 - 32°C Ambient

***Analysis to be done daily***

EQUIPMENT
Tanks: Polypropylene, HD Polyethylene, PVC
Heaters: Teflon, Teflon coated SS, Quartz
Ventilation: Required.
Filtration Recommended. Continuous filtration through a 10 micron polypro filter tube is advisable at 3 to 4tank volume turnovers per hour.
Agitation: Recommended. Work rod agitation to maximize movement of solution through holes is recommended. DO NOT USE AIR AGITATION!!
Vibration: Recommended for small hole and high aspect ratio boards.
ANALYSIS OF MAR AC-77
  1. Reagents Required
    1. 1.0 N Sodium Hydroxide
    2. Cresol Red Indicator Solution
    3. 250 ml. Erlenmeyer Flask
    4. 50 ml. burette
    5. 10 ml. pipette
  2. Method
    1. Pipette 10 ml. of the working solution into the Erlenmeyer Flask.
    2. Dilute to 100 ml. with de ionized water.
    3. Add 2 drops of Cresol Red indicator solution.
    4. While stirring the solution, titrate with 1.0 N sodium hydroxide to a violet colour endpoint.
  3. Calculation
    1. % MAR AC-177 = (ml. NaOH) x (Normality of NaOH) x 1.67

    Maintain between 8-12%M
